No change in the CAT pattern

CAT notification

IIM Bangalore has released the CAT 2016 notification this morning and CAT 2016 will have the same exam pattern as that of last year. With absolutely no changes in the CAT 2016 pattern, one could expect a slightly more challenging and intuitive paper.

All the mock tests taken by the students till now still remain relevant. As per the CAT 2016 notification, the sections in CAT 2016 will remain to be VRC, DILR and QA. Since DILR is still one separate section and it proved to be the nemesis of quite a few students last year, the importance of taking sectional tests gets reiterated.

As per the CAT 2016 notification, non-MCQ questions with no negative marking would still be there. Therefore, for first time CAT takers, it is important to take as many mocks as they can to get acquainted with this pattern. The CAT repeaters should spend some time introspecting what went wrong last year and should look to adopt a new test taking strategy now that the pattern remains the same. Taking more number of mocks is the key.
