In a notification released on February 4, 2025, the Indian Institute of Management Amritsar announced the launch of the IPM Program for the academic year 2024-25.
In the same notification, the admission criteria, processes, and focus areas of this unique program are released.
Like every IPM program, IIM Amritsar will follow the pattern of awarding students with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. But students will be given the exit option.
15th among the league of IIMs in India, IIM Amritsar is set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development with the support of the Government of Punjab.
After years of manifesting world-class postgraduate education to MBA students, the institute is all set to advance the same teaching methodology of intensive case studies, absorbing fieldwork, and role-plays to undergraduate students with its Integrated Program in Management(IPM).
IIM Amritsar is the 6th IIM in the country to offer the IPM course, after some top names like IIM Indore, Rohtak, Ranchi, and more. It has specifically positioned this specialized program as i-MBA(also called an integrated master's in business administration).
Though mimicking the structural formation of an IPM course, IIM Amritsar has a few unique offerings for students seeking an IPM course in their college and those are as follows:
IPMAT-Indore serves as the clearing examination for IIM Amritsar as well. Students do not need to take any other exam.
Students who complete the course will be awarded dual degrees: a BSc in Quantitative Finance & Economics (BSQFE) and an MBA.
A supporting pool of visiting and adjunct faculty from other top B-Schools such as IIM Kozhikode, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, & more.
This program will rely uniquely on the application of quantitative techniques in finance and economics.
The course is designed for students who aim to achieve a concoction of finance, economics, and business managerial skills.
Students can access an exit option from the program after completing 3 years and receiving the (BSQFE) degree.

Every IPM differs in its offering in the first 3 years; i.e., the undergraduate level. Similarly, this course circles around the 3 pillars: Finance, Economics, and Business Management.

Entering into the IIM Amritsar IPM is subject to meeting some criteria. But before discovering whether a candidate is eligible to sit for the IPM program, candidates must first apply in time for the program.

IIM Amritsar will accept the IPMAT-Indore scores as part of its admission process into its IPM program.
IPMAT-Indore is an aptitude exam will 90 questions expanded across 2 major sections, Verbal Ability(VA) & Quantitative Ability(QA), and are required to be solved in under 120 minutes.

Since IIM Amritsar is going to accept the IPMAT-Indore scores, the general perception will be that it will have the same IPMAT-Indore eligibility criteria.
However, there are additional criteria to be met by students who are eyeing the IPM program at IIM Amritsar.

IIM Amritsar has also opened its doors to foreign or International candidates for its IPM program. IIM Amritsar has allocated 5 seats for international/foreign applicants under a separate Supernumerary Quota, in addition to the regular IPM program intake.
There is a separate eligibility criteria for them. Foreign candidates satisfying the following criteria are eligible to apply for the Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management of IIM Amritsar:
Eligible candidates must take the SAT in their country of residence, submit their application at www.iimamritsar.ac.in within the specified deadline, and pay the online application fee.
Candidates meeting all criteria & submitting complete applications will be considered for shortlisting.
Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI) based on SAT scores. Minimum SAT cutoff determined by Admissions Committee.
Shortlisted candidates will have an online PI, evaluated based on various parameters.
Merit list created based on Composite Score (CS) (70% SAT Score, 35% PI Score, and 5% Gender Diversity).

IIM Amritsar's iMBA stands for integrated Master of Business Administration. It is another name for an IPM course. There is no fundamental difference between IPM and iMBA.
Yes, mathematics is a mandatory subject for students who wish to apply for IIM Amritsar's IPM program.
There has been no mention for students having applied mathematics in their +2 to be eligible for IIM Amritsar's IPM program. Until the official statement is released by IIM Amritsar, this remains a space for grey area for everyone.
