The admission process at IIM Amritsar for the MBA (2022-24) will be carried out in 2 stages.
Stage 1: Candidates are shortlisted for the Personal Interview (PI) based on the pre-PI score.
Stage 2: The Personal Interview is conducted and a final merit list is released by IIM Amritsar.
In the 1st round, the pre-PI score is calculated and a merit list is prepared based on which candidates are called for a personal interview in stage 2. There are various factors that play a role in the merit list prepared in Stage 1. Given below are the criterion for weightage-
For MBA (2022-24 admission), IIM Amritsar has decided to do away with the Bachelor's degree component in the pre-PI score because of the Covid scenario. The candidates’ Class X and Class XII scores will be calculated out of 10 and 5 marks, respectively as before. The total marks obtained by a candidate out of 15 (by adding the Class X and Class XII components) will be pro-rated on a scale of 20.
Calculation of Scores for Stage 1
The second stage of the selection process comprises the Personal Interview (PI). During the interview, the panel will evaluate each candidate's academic background, quality of work experience and other personal traits.
The weightage of various factors used in calculating post-PI scores are as follows:-
Personal Interview (PI) = 70%
Work experience = 10%
Gender diversity = 10%
Academic diversity = 10%
Pre-PI scores and post-PI scores (with appropriate weightage) will be used cumulatively in the final phase to select the candidates for the program. The selection process, parameters and weights used are uniform for all categories of applicants.
Sufficient candidates will be shortlisted at each stage from each social category to meet the reservation requirement for each group, as applicable for that particular admissions cycle.
The aggregate score for each candidate is calculated based on the following formula:-
Aggregate Score = (0.6 *Pre-PI Score) + (0.4 * Post-PI Score)
The CAT cutoff percentile is required to be considered for stage 1 of admissions at IIM Amritsar. In Stage 1, the CAT score holds a weightage of 60% in the merit list for the Personal Interview round. Given below is the overall cutoff along with section-wise cutoffs for IIM Amritsar-
