Each year approximately 70,000 applicants apply for the CMAT exam, and over 1,300 B-Schools in India accept its scores for admission to MBA/PGDM programs. Therefore, before setting your targets for CMAT, candidates must be aware of its eligibility criteria beforehand.

CMAT eligibility criteria generally include educational qualifications, age limits, and other relevant conditions for candidates applying for the CMAT exam, including:

  • Be an Indian citizen

  • Be a final-year graduation student

Age Limit

CMAT Eligibility Criteria for Specific Programs

For specific programs like Executive PGDM, MBA/PGDM, and Post Graduate Certificate in Management, the CMAT eligibility criteria may vary, as these courses include work experience along with academic scores, adding value to the candidates' profile.

Executive PGDM

  • Candidates should have completed their graduation degree in any discipline.
  • Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of five years of work experience.

MBA/PGDM:

  • A graduation degree or equivalent from a recognized university is required.
  • The course duration of the bachelor's degree must be three years or above.
  • Minimum marks of 50% (45% for reserved categories) in the qualifying examination.

PGCM (Post Graduate Certificate in Management):

  • Eligibility criteria specific to PGCM may vary for different B-schools which will be available on the official website of the respective B-schools.
  • Generally, a graduation degree in any discipline is a must requirement with a minimum of 50% marks in graduation which may vary for reserved categories.
  • The duration of the program may also influence eligibility; generally, it is for a minimum period of three years of graduation.

CMAT Eligibility Criteria and Reservation

The CMAT eligibility criteria do not explicitly include reservation policies. However, for admissions to business schools accepting CMAT scores, the institutions will consider reservation criteria as prescribed by the Government of India. B-schools follow government-mandated reservation percentages as follows for different categories during the admission process.
