So here we are with just a week left before the CLAT (Common Law Admission Test), it's important to be smart and focus on strategic revision and how to manage time. Here's what can be and should be done (for those who are still confused about how to go about in the last week) practical plan to maximize your performance and reap the benefits of your hard work:
1. RRR- Revision, Revision and Revision:
Legal Aptitude & Reasoning : Revise what you have covered during your preparation especially important legal principles, landmark judgments and those which are in the news, for example, news on Supreme Court declaring electoral bonds as unconstitutional etc. and constitutional laws. Practice legal reasoning questions that test your ability to apply the law which you have already practiced in your mocks.
Current Affairs : Revise current affairs from any standard material but don't please have too many of them and it is because of the simple reason that is, too many cooks spoil the broth. Don't forget to revise the questions that have already been asked in the mocks.
English Language : Practice as many questions for reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar. Solve passages and try to answer the questions within a set time limit. Standard time limit for this section should be 25 minutes.
Logical Reasoning : Solving a variety of critical reasoning questions such as inference or assumption based etc. but not limited to as you must include syllogisms, blood relations, and coding-decoding(Considering that you are also writing AILET Exam).
Mathematics (Try, don't give up): Now is not the time to learn new tricks and tips. Your focus area should be now limited to what you have practiced. Don't practice new concepts as there is not much time left for the exam so it would be better to solve only those questions with which you are comfortable. Areas to focus include basic problems like percentages, time and work, averages, and ratios.
2. Time Management :
Mock Tests: Attempt at least one full-length mock test daily, preferably during the same time slot as the scheduled CLAT exam. Simulation of the exam conditions is important so better time yourself. A rough outline for time management can go like this. English-25 minutes, G.K. including current affairs- 10 minutes, Logical Reasoning- 25 minutes, Legal Reasoning- 30 minutes and Quants- 20 minutes. After each test, you must spend good time analyzing your mocks and identifying your mistakes and weak areas.
Time Allocation: During mock tests, note how long you spend on each section. Avoid spending too much time on one question as there are questions meant to break your speed so better to leave them and move ahead.
3. Work on Weak Areas:
Identify which areas are your weakest (e.g., a particular section or question type) and dedicate extra time to them.
4. Stay Calm and Healthy:
It's time to say, Aal izz Well: A calm and focused mindset is essential. Avoid last-minute cramming and focus on revision.
Sleep Well: Aim for at least 6-7 hours of sleep each night to ensure your brain is rested and alert.
Eat Healthy: Avoid junk food; choose a balanced diet that fuels your brain, like fruits, nuts, and whole grains.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated, especially during mock exams and practice sessions.
5. Day Before the Exam :
Avoid Intensive Study: The day before the exam, don’t overwhelm yourself with new material. Instead, go through key notes or summaries.
Stay Relaxed: Take breaks and relax your mind. Trust your preparation.
Settle Logistics: Ensure you have all the necessary documents (admit card, ID, etc.) ready for the exam day.
By staying organized and focused during this final week, you can improve your chances of success in the CLAT.
Best of luck!
