The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is an examination designed to streamline the admission process for undergraduate programs across various universities. Here is a general overview of what the CUET exam pattern might entail:
Subjects Covered: CUET typically assesses candidates in key subjects relevant to their chosen field of study. This may include subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and General Knowledge, depending on the programs and universities participating.
Exam Format: CUET commonly adopts a multiple-choice question (MCQ) format. The MCQ format presents candidates with a question followed by a set of answer choices, from which they must select the correct option. The exam is divided into three sections : Section 1 , Section 2, and Section 3.
Section 1 : Section 1 comprises of Language test. From CUET 2024 , this test may be conducted offline or online. Students can choose from among the thirteen languages provided that include languages like English , Hindi , Punjabi , Urdu, and others. The duration of the paper is 45 minutes in which the students are required to answer 40 out of 50 questions. Section 2 : Section 2 comprises of Domain specific subject test. Student can choose from among the 27 domain specific subjects provided that include domain subjects like Accountancy, Economics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and others. The duration of the paper is 45 minutes but in some subjects the duration time is 60 minutes in which the students are required to answer 40 out of 50 questions. Section 3 : Section 3 comprises of General test. In General test , questions come from General Knowledge , Current Affairs , Numerical Ability, and other topics. The duration of the paper is 60 minutes in which students are required to answer 50 out of 60 questions.
Duration : In subjects i.e., Accountancy, Economics, Physics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, Chemistry and Mathematics/Applied Mathematics and General test , duration of the test will be 60 minutes.
For all other subjects, duration of the test will be 45 minutes duration.
Marking Scheme: Each correct answer in CUET usually earns +5 marks and for a wrong answer 1 mark is deducted.
Syllabus:
Section 1 : The students' proficiency in the language will be evaluated via inquiries presented in Reading Comprehension , Synonyms & Antonyms , Idioms , Spellings , Grammar, Para Jumbles and Figures of Speech. These questions will be based on various types of passages, including Factual, Literary, and Narrative passages to not only test English but also comprehension and logical skills of the students.
Section 2 : The syllabus for Domain subjects is strictly as per Class 12 NCERT syllabus.
Section 3 : The CUET General Test 2024 constitutes a vital segment within Section III of the CUET Exam 2024. It covers a range of topics such as General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, and Quantitative Reasoning.
