Why QA Feels Daunting and How to Master It

Scoring 99 percentile in the Quantitative Ability (QA) section of the CAT (Common Admission Test) requires a strategic mix of preparation, practice, and time management. Here are some ways by which you can hit 99%ile in Quant Section 

 Understanding of Syllabus 

   - Focus on the key areas: Out of four sections in Quant,  Arithmetic plays a vital role in getting 99%ile, it includes the topics like Percentages, Ratio, Mixtures and Averages Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Time Speed Distance.

Algebra: it is the second important section as per weightage,  it includes topics like Quadratic equations, Inequalities, logarithmic function,  modulus functions and other functions, sequence and series etc.

Geometry & Mensuration 

It is a game changer to score 99%ile, many students don't understand the importance of Geometry,  so they tend to skip this easy second,  it includes topics like 

 Triangles, Circles, quadrilateral,  Polygons,  3D shapes knowledge like cylinder, cone, sphere,  etc

Number System & Modern Maths :

It is a vast section to cover but generally easy questions are asked from this section, it includes topics like

 Divisibility, Remainders, Factors, Trailing zeroes,  last two digits, selection and arrangement of Objects as per the constraints, etc 

After Syllabus coverage, next target is to go through PYQs of CAT exam to check your level of preparation 

 Understanding and strengthening the fundamentals of Subjects

 Consistency generates Power 

Any one should solve  at least 40-50 questions  daily to excel oneself in the section, Also keep an eye on your mistakes and rectify them

Also one should write  sectional tests to check  topic-wise performance.

 Learn Shortcuts and Tricks 

Many questions are Tricky to solve by conventional methods but can be solved using observations and some logics, (but it doesn't mean don't understand the concept behind that(

but to crack the question in less time, these Tricks are helpful.

Also Memorize important formulas and their applications. Practice approximation techniques for quicker calculations. Use Vedic math methods for mental calculations. 

 Focus on Mock Tests 

 It is the crux of the preparation,  be Enrolled  in a reputed CAT test series, to polish your learning and to rectify your mistakes.

One should write at least   30 full-length mocks and proper analysis of these should be done.

While writing mocks areas to focus: Accuracy 

 Time spare  per question to mprove speed.

  Weak areas: Revise and practice them separately.
