The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) has three sections. Students' knowledge and acumen for their selected subjects are tested through MCQ-based tests. The three sections of CUET (UG) are as follows:

> Section I: Language (13 languages)

> Section II: Domain-specific subjects (23 subjects)

> Section III: General Aptitude Test

English is the most popular and widely selected language from section I. Along with English and Hindi, section I includes 11 other regional languages. Students opting for English as their choice of language must extensively prepare for the subject to maximize their scores. Focusing on certain key areas is essential if students are preparing for the CUET English test. These are mentioned below.

Firstly, build your vocabulary by reading various sources such as newspapers, magazines, and books and learning new words and their meanings. You should then practice using these words in sentences to reinforce your understanding.

Reading the newspaper will help you improve your vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension skills. You can refer to the Hindu or Times of India newspapers to improve your English skills.

Secondly, you should revise grammar rules, such as parts of speech, tenses, articles, prepositions, para jumbles, and conjunctions. There are numerous questions in the CUET English question paper from the grammar section. These are high-scoring questions; with adequate practice, students can score full marks.

Thirdly, another important area to focus on is reading comprehension. There are 3 RC passages/poems in the CUET question paper, comprising 15 questions. Students must undergo rigorous practice to achieve perfection in this (RC).

Practice reading comprehension passages and answering questions based on them, focusing on understanding the passage's main idea, supporting details, and tone.
