Which Subjects are Eligible for CUET?

CUET Subject List: CUET (UG) is a nationwide entrance exam for admissions to over 280 universities, including 45+ central and many other state, private, and deemed universities. With UGC's approval, NTA has released a detailed CUET subject list. The list includes 31 subjects, including English & GT. The subject list under the CUET 2025 syllabus also includes 32 languages, excluding English.

Students can select a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 subjects from the given list. All the subjects or papers of CUET (UG) are divided into 3 different sections. The details of those are mentioned below.


Section I: Languages [Total 33 languages, including English & Hindi]

Section I of the CUET syllabus is divided into two parts - IA & IB. The CUET language list from section I is given below:

English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, and Urdu.

Chinese, German, French, Arabic, Italian, Japanese, Nepali, Russian, Spanish, Tibetan, Dogri, Bodo, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, and Sindhi.


Section II: Domain Subjects [ This includes 29 domain subjects]

The domain subjects are further divided into two parts - Domain subjects & Additional subjects. The brief list of domain subjects is mentioned below:

Accountancy, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Economics, Geography, History, Home Science, Legal Studies, Maths, Physics, Political Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Legal Studies, Physical Education, Environmental Studies, and Anthropology.

Physical Education, Engineering graphics, Fine arts, Knowledge & Tradition - Practices in India, Entrepreneurship, Teaching aptitude, Mass media, Agriculture, Tourism, and Fashion Studies.


Section III: General Test [This is the single paper section]

This section includes topics like - General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts, Quantitative, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, measurement, and statistics, Logical and Analytical Reasoning.

Can I select 3 subjects for CUET?

According to the CUET 2025 exam pattern, students can choose a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 subjects from the entire CUET subject list. However, those 6 subjects must include one language. Students can choose 3, 4, 5, or 6 subjects.

Students are advised to select their target university and course-wise eligibility and choose CUET subjects accordingly. This will be crucial while applying for the counselling cum admission process of particular universities.
