Central University of Kerala: The Central University of Kerala was established under the Central University Act in 2009 in the Kasaragod district in the state of Kerala. The college is one of the initial 15 universities established under this Act which also makes it one of the most popular universities in South India. Kerala University includes 151 prestigious colleges divided into two parts- autonomous and non-autonomous colleges. In total, it has 16 faculties and 42 departments that offer various UG and PG courses such as BA, MA, M.Sc, LLM, M.Ed, MSW, MPH, and P.hD. It is accredited with an "A" Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and ranked 27th in the overall ranking of NIRF 2021. It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
As per the new announcement, the Central University of Kerala will follow the CUET policy for conducting entrance exams and admissions to various UG and PG courses. From 2022, admissions to Kerala university will no longer be through its autonomous entrance exam, but rather the CUET (Common University Entrance Test) conducted by NTA.
To get into the UG program of the Central University of Kerala, a student must have at least 50% marks or equivalent in the 12th standard from a recgonised board. Apart from this, the SC/ST students are granted a relaxation of up to 5% in the marks requirement. The maximum age limit for UG admissions to the university is 19 years.
The University of Kerala was conducting its university entrance exam until 2021 for shortlisting candidates for its various UG and PG courses. However, with the changing pattern of the entrance exams for Central Universities, along with many other state, private, and deemed universities in India, Kerala University will also be a part of CUET from 2022 onwards for selecting candidates for undergraduate courses as well as post-graduate courses. The exam will be conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency).
