Launch of NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission Digi-Book Innovations for You Sector in Focus - Health Care

What's the NEWS

  • NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has launched - "Innovations for You"
  • It is an attempt to showcase the success stories of Atal Innovation Mission's Startups in different domains.
  • These startups have worked to create new, disruptive and innovative products, services, and solutions that can pave a path for a sustainable future.
  • The first edition of this book is focused on innovations in Health Care and soon other sectors shall follow.

  • Innovations for You series by Atal Innovation Mission captureshow startups in various sectors are innovating to create a sustainable future in a post pandemic era.
  • The book is a compilation of 45 health tech startups, incubated at Atal Incubation Centres spread across the country.
  • These startups are leveraging frontier technologies such as AI, IoT, ICT and others to provide socially relevant solutions to problems like Anemia, Malaria, dental care, mental health, neonatal and child care and monitoring human vitals, among others.
  • The digi-book series - Innovations for Youby Atal Innovation Mission brings the best of innovations and entrepreneurs to the forefront.
  • The subsequent editions of the book will focus on other emerging sectors like AgriTech, EduTech, Mobility, EV among others.

  • The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is the Government of India's flagship initiative to promote innovation and entrepreneurship culture in the country.
  • AIM is mandated to create an umbrella structure to oversee innovation ecosystem of the country and revolutionizing the innovation eco-system - touching upon the entire innovation life cycle through various programs.
  • The Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) create innovators, Atal Incubation Centres and support to Established Incubation Centres ensure innovations are taken to the market and help create enterprises around these innovations, Atal Community Innovation Centres are promoting benefits of technology led innovation to the unserved/underserved regions of India.
  • Atal New India Challenges are creating product and service innovations having national socio-economic impact and ARISE ANIC Challenges promote innovation in a phased manner in the MSME/Startup sector.

Cabinet approval sets the implementation of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) in motion


What's the NEWS

  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved PM GatiShakti National Master Plan including institutional framework for rolling out, implementation, monitoring and support mechanism for providing multi-modal connectivity.
  • Prime Minister launched PM GatiShakti NMP for multi-modal connectivity on 13th October, 2021.

Implementation framework includes

  • Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGOS)
  • Network Planning Group (NPG)
  • Technical Support Unit (TSU)

EGOS

  • EGOS will be headed by Cabinet Secretary and will consist of Secretaries of 18 Ministries as members and Head of Logistics Division as Member Convenor.
  • The EGOS has been mandated to review and monitor implementation of the PM GatiShakti NMP to ensure logistics efficiency.
  • It is empowered to prescribe framework and norms for undertaking any subsequent amendments to the NMP.
  • EGOS shall also set out the procedure and definitive framework for synchronization of various activities
  • EGOS will also look at the interventions required to meet the demand side, in efficiently transporting bulk goods on the requirement of various Ministries like Steel, Coal, Fertilizer, etc.

Network Planning Group (NPG)

  • CCEA has also approved formation, composition and terms of reference for Network Planning Group (NPG) consisting of heads of Network Planning wing of respective infrastructure ministries and it will assist the EGOS.

Technical Support Unit (TSU)

  • In view of the complexities involved in overall integration of networks, enhancing optimization to avoid duplication of works for holistic development of any region as well as reducing logistics costs through micro-plan detailing, the Technical Support Unit (TSU) is approved for providing the required competencies.
  • TSU shall have domain experts from various infrastructure sectors as Aviation, Maritime, Public Transport, Rail, Roads & Highways, Ports, etc. and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as Urban & Transport Planning, Structures (Roads, Bridges & Buildings), Power, Pipeline, GIS, ICT, Finance/Market PPP, logistics, Data Analytics, etc.

PM GatiShakti NMP

  • The PM GatiShakti NMP is intended to break Departmental Silos and bring in more holistic and integrated planning and execution of projects with a view to address the issues of Multi Modal connectivity and last mile connectivity.
  • This will help in bringing down the logistics cost.
  • This will translate into enormous economic gains to consumers, farmers, youth as well as those engaged in businesses.
  • PM GatiShakti shall bring in various stakeholders together and help integrate different modes of transportation.
  • PM Gatishakti NMP for multi-modal connectivity will ensure holistic governance at the Centre of which are people of India, industries of India, manufacturers of India and farmers of India.

India Internet Governance Forum

What's the NEWS

  • India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF), will be conducted jointly by Ministry of Electronics and IT, NIXI and Multistakeholder Group from 8th to 11th of November, 2021
  • The theme of IIGF 2021 is ‘Empower India through Power of Internet'.
  • The event will witness enlightening discussions on the road to Digitization in India.
  • The salient feature of the event will be the three plenary sessions on themes- India &Internet- India's Digital Journey and Her Global Role, Equity, Access & Quality - High-speed Internet for All and Cyber Norms and Ethics in Internet Governance.

India Internet Governance Forum(IIGF)

  • It has been constituted in conformance to IGF-Paragraph 72 of the Tunis Agenda of the UN-based Internet Governance forum (IGF).
  • Through an open and inclusive process, IIGF brings together all stakeholders in the Global Internet governance ecosystem, including government, industry, civil society, academia - as equal participants of the larger Internet Governance discourse.
  • The objective of the curtain raiser event was to discuss and deliberate on the roadmap to Digitisation and reaffirm India as an essential participant on the global stage by highlighting its role and importance in the International Policy development on Internet Governance.

  • The India Internet Government Forum is an initiative associated with the UN Internet Governance Forum (UN-IGF).
  • The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a multi-stakeholder platform bringing representatives together from various groups to discuss public policy issues related to the Internet.

Internet Governance Forum (IGF)

  • It is a multistakeholder governance group for policy dialogue on issues of Internet governance.
  • It brings together all stakeholders in the Internet governance debate, whether they represent governments, the private sector or civil society, including the technical and academic community, on an equal basis and through an open and inclusive process.
  • The establishment of the IGF was formally announced by the United Nations Secretary-General in July 2006.
  • It was first convened in October-November 2006 and has held an annual meeting since then.

Issuance of calendar for Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2021-22

What's the NEWS

  • The Government of India, in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, has decided to issue Sovereign Gold Bonds.
  • The Sovereign Gold Bonds will be issued in four tranches from October 2021 to March 2022
  • The Bonds will be sold through Scheduled Commercial banks(except Small Finance Banks and Payment Banks), Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL),Clearing Corporation of India Limited (CCIL),designated post offices, and recognised stock exchanges viz., National Stock Exchange of India Limited and Bombay Stock Exchange Limited.
