400th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

What's the NEWS

  • Prime Minister will participate in the celebrations of the 400th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Red Fort in New Delhi on 21 April 2022
  • The programme is being organised by the Government of India in collaboration with the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
  • The programme is focussed on highlighting the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru, who sacrificed his life to protect religion and human values, ideals and principles in world history.
  • He was executed for supporting the religious freedom of Kashmiri Pandits on the orders of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.
  • His death anniversary is commemorated as Shaheedi Divas every year on 24 November.
  • Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Rakab Ganj in Delhi are associated with his sacred sacrifice.

  • Guru Tegh Bahadur (1621 - 1675) was the ninth of ten Sikh Gurus and the leader of Sikhs from 1665 until his beheading in 1675.
  • He was born in Amritsar, Punjab, India in 1621 and was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind, the sixth Sikh guru. His 115 hymns are included in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the main text of Sikhism.
  • He was originally named Tyag Mal but was later renamed Tegh Bahadur after his gallantry and bravery in the wars against the Mughal forces.
  • He built the city of Anandpur Sahib.
  • Guru Tegh Bahadur was executed on the orders of Aurangzeb, the sixth Mughal emperor, in Delhi.
  • Sikh holy premises Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi mark the places of execution and cremation of Guru Tegh Bahadur respectively.

Draft Protection And Enforcement Of Interests In Aircraft Objects Bill, 2022


What's the NEWS

  • The Ministry of Civil Aviation has proposed a new law that will help international aircraft leasing companies to repossess and transfer planes out of India in case of a financial dispute with an Indian airline at a time many regional airlines have been refused planes on rent.
Know! about the bill
  • The Bill will implement the provisions of the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and Protocol on Matters Specific to Aircraft Equipment which was adopted at a conference in Cape Town in 2001. India acceded to the two instruments in 2008.
  • These provide default remedies for the creditor and create a legal regime for disputes.
  • The draft legislation is necessary because several Indian laws such as the Companies Act, 2013 are in conflict with the Cape Town Convention and Protocol.

  • The Vice President of India visited the birthplace of noted freedom fighter and revolutionary, Shri Alluri Sitarama Raju in Pandrangi village near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Know! about Alluri Sitarama Raju
  • Alluri Sitarama Raju (1897 - 1924) was an Indian revolutionary who waged an armed campaign against British colonial rule in India.
  • Born in present-day Andhra Pradesh, he became involved in anti-British activities in response to the 1882 Madras Forest Act, which effectively restricted the free movement of Adivasis (tribal communities) in their forest habitats and prevented them from practicing a traditional form of agriculture known as podu.
  • Rising discontent towards the British led to the Rampa Rebellion of 1922, in which he played a major part as a leader.
  • He was nicknamed "Manyam Veerudu" (Hero of the Jungle) by local villagers for his heroic exploits.

What's the NEWS

  • Defence Secretary inaugurated the 8th edition of two-day National Level Pollution Response Exercise, ‘NATPOLREX-VIII', being conducted by Indian Coast Guard (ICG) off Mormugao harbour, Goa.
Know! about the exercise
  • The objective of NATPOLREX-VIII is to enhance the preparedness and response capability of all the stakeholders in combating marine spills.
  • It aims at validating the procedures and guidelines as contained in the National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOSDCP) at the national and regional levels under the aegis of SACEP MoU to which India is a member state.
  • The event is being attended by more than 85 participants from 50 agencies, including 29 observers from 22 friendly foreign countries & International Organisations and two Coast Guard ships from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

  • To harness the benefits of pre-fabrication in construction of National Highways, Expressways & Other Centrally Sponsored Road Projects, MORT&H has made mandatory to use factory manufactured pre-cast concrete elements in projects within 100 km radius of Pre-cast factory.
  • The minimum mandatory usage should be 25% of total concrete volume other than the foundations & sub-structures of Bridges/Viaduct/RoB.
  • Industrialised Pre-cast Concrete has the benefits of all-weather and fast construction, reliable quality & enhanced performance durability, aesthetics due to uniformity in appearance and reduced carbon emission/reduced noise & air pollution due to reduced construction activities at site, etc.
  • Precast concrete
  • Precast concrete is a construction product produced by casting concrete in a reusable mold or "form" which is then cured in a controlled environment, transported to the construction site and lifted into place ("tilt up").
  • Precast is a method of industrialized design, production and construction using precast concrete products.
  • The industrialized process is an advantage that enables quick long-line production, standardized components, the calculated positioning of details, and uncomplicated documentation.
