Introduction to Indian Knowledge Systems
- Union Minister of Education and Skill Development launched a textbook on ‘Introduction to Indian Knowledge Systems: Concepts and Applications"
- This book seeks to fill in the gap for offering a required course on IKS, recently mandated by AICTE.
- Moreover, the New Education Policy (NEP) has also provided a clear trajectory for imparting IKS in the higher education curriculum
- The newly released IKS textbook will enable the students to bridge the divide between traditional and modern education system by providing students with an opportunity to reconnect with the past, build holistic scientific temper and utilize it for carrying multidisciplinary research and innovation.
- The book on Introduction to Indian Knowledge System which seeks to introduce the epistemology and ontology of the Indian Knowledge Systems in all domains of life, to the Engineering and Science students in a way they can relate to, appreciate and explore further.
- The textbook curriculum is developed by Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore in association with VYASA Yoga Institute, Bengaluru, and Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth, Ernakulam.
- Established in October 2020 , Indian Knowledge System (IKS) is an innovative cell under Ministry of Education (MoE) at AICTE, New Delhi.
- It seeks to promote interdisciplinary research on all aspects of IKS, preserve and disseminate IKS for further research and societal applications, actively engage for spreading the rich heritage of our country and traditional knowledge in the field of Arts and literature, Agriculture, Basic Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Architecture, Management, Economics, etc.

- The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind addressed the golden jubilee celebrations of Akhil Bhartiya Koli Samaj
- Koli, also called Kori, caste with many subgroups who inhabit the central and western mountain area of India.
- The largest groups of Koli live in the state of Maharashtra, especially in Mumbai, and in Gujarat state.
- The traditional occupation of the coastal Koli is fishing, although many are now employed in schools and government offices.
- The other land-based Koli are chiefly concerned with agriculture.
- The Koli are largely Hindu but retain some aspects of their former animism.
- They are listed as a Scheduled Caste in the Constitution of India

President Ram Nath Kovind left on a state visit to Jamaica and St. Vincent & Grenadines
This is the first-ever visit by an Indian Head of State to these Caribbean nations.
Jamaica
- Jamaica and India have friendly relations.
- Jamaica is also one of the Girmitya countries with a strong Indian diaspora, who act as a living bridge with India.
- The visit comes at a significant milestone as 2022 is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Jamaica.
- Mr. Kovind will also pay a state visit to St. Vincent & Grenadines (SVG)
- The Visit of the President Kovind to Jamaica and Saint Vincent and Grenadines assumes importance as both these nations are active members in the Caribbean Community.
- The first-ever Head of State visit to these countries is a continuation of India's high-level engagement in the Caribbean region and emphasizes India's continued commitment to work with Small Island developing countries.
- It is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea
- Kingston is the capital and largest city of Jamaica, located on the southeastern coast of the island. It faces a natural harbour protected by the Palisadoes .
- St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a southern Caribbean nation comprising a main island, St. Vincent, and a chain of smaller islands.
- The main island is home to the capital, Kingstown.

- The Indian Badminton team has scored the historic win at the Thomas Cup
- The Thomas Cup, sometimes called the World Men's Team Championships, is an international badminton competition among teams representing member nations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body.
- The championships have been conducted every two years since the 1982, amended from being conducted every three years since the first tournament held in 1948-1949.
- The final phase of the tournament involves 12 teams competing at venues within the host nation and is played concurrently with the final phase of the world women's team championships, the Uber Cup (first held in 1956-1957). Since 1984, the two Cups have been held jointly at the various stages of play.
- Thomas Cup and, to a lesser extent, Uber Cup are some of the world's "biggest" and most prestigious regularly held badminton events in terms of player and fan interest.
- Of the 30 Thomas Cup tournaments held since 1948-1949, only six countries have won the title. Indonesia is the most successful team, having won 14 times.
- India is the current champion, having won its first title after beating title holders Indonesia 3-0 in the 2022 edition.

1st Incredible India International Cruise Conference (IIICC)
- The 1st Incredible India International Cruise Conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Government of India and FICCI.
- Conference highlights
- Strategies for developing India as a cruise hub, policy initiatives and port infrastructure, potential of river cruise tourism, role of technology in the post-pandemic world were some of the key issues deliberated at the two-day event.
- More than 300 delegates representing stakeholders including international and Indian cruiseline operators, investors, industry experts and consultants, senior officials of centre and state governments, ports, maritime boards and tourism boards attended the conference.
