Government Schemes
Sagarmala Young Professional Scheme
- Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has formulated scheme to engage talented, forward-thinking and dynamic young professionals in various divisions of the Ministry.
- This scheme focuses on active on-the-ground learning for young professionals.
- The professionals will have the opportunity to learn about the functioning of the government as well as developmental policy concerns.
- Professionals will be required to deliver high-quality inputs in areas such as infrastructure, data analysis, project management, start-up, innovation, skill development, digital transformation and the environment, among others, in order to meet Ministry's needs.
- The scheme will foster active involvement of young people in decision-making.
- Initially, more than 25 young professionals will be hired under this scheme.
- The initial period of engagement shall be 2 years which can be extended to additional 2 years on the basis of performance
- Engaging young people in government initiatives can increase their understanding and interest in administrative functioning, as well as encourage active citizenship.
- It will also raise awareness about maritime sector among youth.
Sagarmala Programme
- The Sagarmala Programme is the flagship programme of the Ministry of Shipping to promote port-led development in the country by exploiting India's 7,517 km long coastline, 14,500 km of potentially navigable waterways and its strategic location on key international maritime trade routes.
- Sagarmala aims to modernize India's Ports, so that port-led development can be augmented and coastlines can be developed to contribute to India's growth.
- It also aims at "transforming the existing Ports into modern world-class Ports and integrate the development of the Ports, the Industrial clusters and hinterland and efficient evacuation systems through road, rail, inland and coastal waterways resulting in Ports becoming the drivers of economic activity in coastal areas.
- The Sagarmala project seeks to develop a string of ports around India's coast.
- The Union Ministry of Shipping has been appointed as the nodal ministry for this initiative.
- To implement this, State governments would set up State Sagarmala committees, headed by the chief minister or the minister in charge of ports.
- At the central level, a Sagarmala Development Company (SDC) will be setup to provide equity support to assist various special purpose vehicles (SPVs) setup for various projects.
Health
Integration of eSanjeevani with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
What's the NEWS
- The National Health Authority (NHA) announces the successful integration of eSanjeevani with its flagship scheme - Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
- This integration allows the existing users of eSanjeevani, the telemedicine service of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to easily create their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and use it to link and manage their existing health records like prescriptions, lab reports, etc.
- The users would also be able to share their health records with doctors on eSanjeevani which will help in better clinical decision making and ensuring the continuum of care.
- eSanjeevani service is available in two variants.
- The first one is eSanjeevani Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centre (AB-HWC) - the Doctor-to-Doctor telemedicine service through which the beneficiaries visiting a HWC can virtually connect to doctors/ specialists in the Hub that could be at tertiary healthcare facility/hospital/medical college.
- This enables the government to provide general and specialised health services in rural areas and isolated communities.
- The second variant, eSanjeevani OPD is serving patients across the country, connecting them directly to doctors from the comforts of their homes.
- Both versions - eSanjeevani AB-HWC and eSanjeevani OPD have been integrated with ABDM platform.
- The eSanjeevani telemedicine platform now joins other 40 digital health applications that have completed their ABDM integration.

- Minister of State for Culture in an event organised by National Monuments Authority(NMA) released ‘Banda Singh Bahadur Martyrdom Monument Poster', ahead of his 306thMartyrdom Day
- Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was a great warrior to defend India and defeat the Mughals.
- His original name was Baba Madhav Das and he was a Bairagi Sadhu.
- Baba Banda Singh Bahadur aimed at National awakening and Liberation of the country from the oppressive rule of the Mughals.
- Though Independence came to India much later, yet it was Baba Banda Singh Bahadur who first taught the Indians to fight, conquer and establish their independent rule.
- Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and his son Ajai Singh were martyred on 9 June, 1716 A.D. along with his other 18 companions near a gate en-route the tomb of so-called Sufi saint Qutub-ud-din Bakhtiar kaki at Mehrauli.
- The butchers first killed his son Ajai Singh in his lap.
- But Banda Bahadur remained unmoved and sat in a composed state. After that Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's cruelly martyred. His glorious martyrdom validates Bhagat Kabir's rendition in Guru Granth Sahib.

NCC'S PUNEET SAGAR CAMPAIGN
What's the NEWS
- NCC has launched the latest phase of its nationwide flagship campaign ‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyan' on 30 May 2022 and it will continue till 5th June 2022, the World Environment Day.
- About 74,000 cadets from 10 States and 4 Union Territories will participate in the campaign during this phase.
- The NCC cadets shall also be joined in by NCC Alumni, locals and tourists in several places across the country.
- The waste collected during the campaign will be disposed of in an environment friendly manner in cooperation with Government/Private agencies.
- Puneet Sagar Abhiyan was launched by NCC to clean Sea Shores/Beaches and other water bodies including rivers & lakes, of plastic & other waste and increase awareness amongst the local population about importance of keeping the beaches and river fronts clean.
- The purpose of the Abhiyan is to educate locals and sensitise them about ‘Swachh Bharat'.
- The campaign has continued unabated with full fervour since its launch in December 2021.
