What's the NEWS
- The 3rd Edition of Vietnam India Bilateral Army Exercise "Ex VINBAX 2022" is scheduled to be conducted at Chandimandir from 01 to 20 Aug 2022.
- The exercise is a sequel to previously conducted bilateral exercise in Vietnam in 2019
- India and Vietnam share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and defence cooperation is a key pillar of this partnership.
- Vietnam is an important partner in India's Act East policy and the Indo-Pacific vision.
- The theme of Ex VINBAX - 2022 is employment and deployment of an Engineer Company and a Medical Team as part of United Nations Contingent for Peace Keeping Operations.
- India has a rich legacy of deployment of troops in United Nations missions and has some of the best capacities to impart United Nations peace operations training

Exercise Al NAJAH-IV
What's the NEWS
- The 4th Edition of India Oman Joint Military Exercise ‘AL NAJAH-IV'
- Countries involved - Contingents of Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman
- Location - Foreign Training Node of Mahajan Field Firing Ranges (Rajasthan) from 01 to 13 August 2022.
- The previous edition of Ex AL NAJAH IV was organised at Muscat from 12 to 25 March 2019.
- The joint military exercise aims to enhance the level of defence co-operation between Indian Army and Royal Army of Oman and will further manifest in enhancing the bilateral relations between the two nations.

What's the NEWS
- The 39th Meeting of the Central Zoo Authority was held under the chairmanship of the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change
- The Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE-ZOO) of zoos (first time in the world) has been undertaken in 39 recognized zoos (Large and Medium zoos).
- Central Zoo Authority (CZA), is a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India http://cza.nic.in/.
- It was established in 1992 through an amendment to the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 to oversee the functioning of Indian zoos and complement wildlife conservation strategies through ex-situ measures.
- The guiding objective of CZA has been to ensure best practices for housing, upkeep and healthcare of captive animals in Indian zoos.
- As on today, CZA recognizes 147 zoos.
- Zoos carry out a multitude of activities ranging from conservation awareness, display of rare fauna, rescue and rehabilitation and conservation breeding programs for threatened species.

‘Chabahar Day' observed to promote Chabahar - Link to INSTC - Connecting Central Asian Markets
What's the NEWS
- Ministry of Port, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) in association with India Ports Global observed ‘Chabahar Day' to mark the Chabahar - Link to INSTC - Connecting Central Asian Markets
- INSTC (International North-South Transport Corridor) is India's vision and initiative to reduce the time taken for EXIM shipments to reach Russia, Europe, and enter the central Asian markets.
- The Chabahar Port located in Iran is the commercial transit center for the region and especially Central Asia.
- India's ambition is to make Shahid Beheshti Port at Chabahar a transit hub and linking it to INSTC to reach out to Central Asian Countries.
- Linking Chabahar with INSTC can play a vital role in boosting EXIM trade in their regions and its potential to further boost development in the landlocked countries.

- International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is a multi modal transportation established in 2000 for the purpose of promoting transportation cooperation among the Member States.
- This corridor connects India Ocean and Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea via Iran, Islamic Rep., and is then connected to Saint Petersburg and North European via Russia.
Know! about Chabahar Port
- Chabahar Port is a seaport in Chabahar located in southeastern Iran, on the Gulf of Oman.
- It serves as Iran's only oceanic port, and consists of two separate ports named Shahid Kalantari and Shahid Beheshti, each of which has five berths.
- It is only about 170 kilometres west of the Pakistani port of Gwadar.
- The port is partly intended to provide an alternative for trade between India and Afghanistan as it is 800 kilometers closer to the border of Afghanistan than Pakistan's Karachi port
- India began building a railway line between Chabahar port and Zahedan as part of the North-South Transport Corridor.
- Indian company, India Ports Global Limited (IPGL), through its wholly owned subsidiary, India Ports Global Chabahar Free Zone (IPGCFZ), took over the operations of the Chabahar Port with effect from 24 December 2018.
