Atal Innovation Mission launches women centric challenges under its ANIC program

 

 

What's the NEWS

  • Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog launched Woman centric challenges under phase-II of the 2nd edition of the Atal New India Challenge (ANIC).

  • ANIC is an initiative by AIM, NITI Aayog targeted to seek, select, support and nurture technology-based innovations that solve sectoral challenges of national importance and societal relevance. through a grant-based mechanism of up to INR 1 crore.
ANIC's Woman centric challenges
  • It address the major issues faced by woman from all spheres of life
  • These include driving women hygiene through innovation, innovations to improve women's safety, professional networking opportunities for women, innovations that make working mothers' life better, and easing the life of Rural Women.

 

Know! about AIM

  • The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is a flagship initiative set up by the NITI Aayog in 2016 to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of the country.
  • AlM's objectives are to create and promote an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship across the country at school, university, research institutions, MSME and industry levels.

 


INDIAN NATIONAL CARTOGRAPHIC ASSOCIATION (INCA)

 

What's the NEWS

  • The 42 International Congress of the Indian National Cartographic Association (INCA) is being organised by the National Hydrographic Office (NHO), Dehradun from 09 to 11 Nov 22.
  • The personnel of the Naval Hydrographic Department (NHD) working on the cutting edge of cartography have been active in the INCA since its inception in 1979.
  • The NHO had earlier conducted the 37th INCA Congress at Dehradun from 01 to 03 Nov 17.

  • The INCA was founded in 1979 and has evolved into one of the largest organisations in the field of cartography with more than 3000 life and institutional members.
  • Organisations such as the National Hydrographic Office (NHO), Survey of India, Indian Space Research Organisation, National Thematic Map Organisation and Universities are part of this Association.
  • The body has various branches functioning at different centers across the country to harmonise various aspects of cartography.
  • The focal theme for the 42d INCA Congress is ‘Digital Cartography to Harness Blue Economy'.

Mentor India Round Table

 

What's the NEWS

  • Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog hosted a ‘Mentor India Round Table' to acknowledge the contributions of the Top 35 exemplary Mentors of Change (MoC).
  • The top mentors from across the country were invited to participate in the event.

  • Mentor India is a strategic national building initiative of the AIM, NITI Aayog which onboards professionals, academicians, industry experts to mentor students in Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) and startups.
  • These professionals facilitate innovation and entrepreneurship activities in ATLs and mould a new generation of neoteric innovators in India.
‘Tinkerpreneur'
  • With the help of ‘Mentor India' community, students get to acquire technical and entrepreneurial skills to develop their digital product every year under Atal Tinkering Lab's flagship bootcamp known as ‘Tinkerpreneur'.
  • Under Tinkerpreneur, Top 100 ATL students each year receive mentoring from prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB) for 8 months in Atal Catalyst Program conducted in collaboration with AIM.
  • Last year, top 20 students got the chance to pitch their ideas in front of investors and 10 of them have received funding to develop their prototype.

 

India's First Sovereign Green Bonds Framework

What's the NEWS

 

  • Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs approves the final Sovereign Green Bonds framework of India.
  • India's first Sovereign Green Bonds framework was formulated and as per the provisions of the framework, Green Finance Working Committee (GFWC) was constituted to validate key decisions on issuance of Sovereign Green Bonds
  • This approval will further strengthen India's commitment towards its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDCs) targets, adopted under the Paris Agreement, and help in attracting global and domestic investments in eligible green projects.
  • The proceeds generated from issuance of such bonds will be deployed in Public Sector projects which help in reducing carbon intensity of the economy.
  • The Framework comes close on the footsteps of India's commitments under "Panchamrit" as elucidated by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, at COP26 at Glasgow in November, 2021.
  • Sovereign Green Bonds will be issued for mobilising resources for green projects.

  • Green bonds are financial instruments that generate proceeds for investment in environmentally sustainable and climate-suitable projects.
  • Green bonds command a relatively lower cost of capital vis-à-vis regular bonds and necessitates credibility and commitments associated with the process of raising bonds.

 

Five commitments made by Modi at the global conference (Panchamrit)

 

  1. To raise the non-fossil fuel based energy capacity of the country to 500 GW by 2030.
  2. By 2030, 50% of the country's energy requirements would be met using renewable energy sources.
  3. The country will reduce the total projected carbon emission by one billion tonnes between now and the year 2030.
  4. The carbon intensity of the economy would be reduced to less than 45% by 2030, Modi said as the fourth point.
  5. The country would become carbon neutral and achieve net zero emissions by the year 2070.

 

 

Kashi Tamil Sangamam

What's the NEWS

  • The month-long 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam' programme will be organised in Varanasi from November 17thto December 16th to rediscover the centuries-old bond of knowledge and ancient civilisational linkage between Kashi and Tamil Nadu.
  • Organised by - Ministry of Education
  • As part of the program, academic exchanges - seminars, discussions etc will be held between experts/ scholars on various facets of the two ancient manifestations of Indian Culture, with focus on bringing out the links and shared values between the two.
  • The broader objective is to bring the two knowledge and cultural traditions closer, create and understanding of our shared heritage and deepen the people-to-people bond between the regions.
