1st Snow Marathon



What's the NEWS

  • The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India (North) in association with Real Sports India along with local administration, Amazing Bhaderwah Tourism Association (ABTA) organised the maiden 1st Snow Marathon in Bhaderwah, Jammu
  • This first ever grand snow marathon event is organised to celebrate 75 years of India's Independence, G20 India Presidency, Dekho Apna Desh, Yuva Tourism Club and Fit India Movement

 

 


EXERCISE COBRA WARRIOR

 

What's the NEWS

  • An Indian Air Force contingent comprising 145 Air Warriors departed Air Force Station Jamnagar for participating in Exercise Cobra Warrior at the Waddington Air Force Base of the Royal Air Force in United Kingdom.
  • The exercise is scheduled from 06 Mar 23 to 24 Mar 23.
  • The Exercise Cobra Warrior is a multilateral Air exercise in which Air Forces from Finland, Sweden, South Africa, United States of America and Singapore would also be participating alongside Royal Air Force and IAF.
  • The IAF is participating in the exercise this year with five Mirage 2000 fighters, two C-17 Globemaster III and an IL-78 mid-air refueller aircraft.
  • The aim of the exercise is to participate in diverse fighter aircraft engagements and learn from the best practices of various Air Forces.

 

Banjara Dharmaguru Santh Sevalal Maharaj Jayanti

 

What's the NEWS

  • For the first time ever, the yearlong commemoration of birth anniversary of Santh Sevalal Maharaj , the Spiritual & Religious Leader of Banjara Community is being celebrated by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

  • Santh Sevalal Maharaj was born on 15 February 1739 at Surgondankoppa in Shivamogga district of Karnataka.
  • He is considered a social reformer and spiritual teacher of the Banjara community.
  • It is believed that there is a population of around 10 to 12 crore Banjara community across the country.
  • He travelled across the country with his Ladeniya Troup to serve especially the forest dwellers and nomadic tribes.
  • Due to his extraordinary knowledge, excellent skills and spiritual background in Ayurveda and Naturopathy, he was able to dispel and eradicate myths and superstitions prevalent in the tribal communities and brought about reforms in their way of life.
  • Among such communities, the Banjara community settled across the country with different names, have permanently abandoned their nomadic lifestyle and settled in their settlements called Tandas.
  • In states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, Sant Sevalal Maharaj is a revered symbol of every Banjara family and in all these states the birth anniversary of Sant Sevalal Maharaj ji is celebrated with great fanfare in the month of February.
  • The Samadhi Sthal of Saint Sewalal Ji is situated in Manora Taluka of Washim District of Maharashtra at Pohradevi which is also known as Banjara Kashi.

 

Barisu Kannada Dim Dimava', Amrit Mahotsav of Delhi-Karnataka Sangha

 

What's the NEWS

  • The Prime Minister, inaugurated the ‘Barisu Kannada Dim Dimava' cultural festival at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi
  • In line with the Prime Minister's vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat', the ‘Barisu Kannada Dim Dimava' cultural festival is being organized to celebrate Karnataka's culture, traditions and history.
  • The festival is held under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and will provide an opportunity for hundreds of artists to showcase Karnataka cultural heritage through dance, music, drama, poetry etc.

 

EXERCISE DESERT FLAG VIII

 

What's the NEWS

  • An Indian Air Force contingent comprising of 110 Air Warriors has arrived at Al Dhafra airbase of United Arab Emirates for participating in Exercise Desert Flag VIII.
  • The IAF would be participating with five LCA Tejas and two C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.
  • This is the first occasion when the LCA Tejas shall participate in an international flying exercise outside India.
  • Exercise Desert Flag is a multilateral air exercise in which Air Forces from UAE, France, Kuwait, Australia, UK, Bahrain, Morocco, Spain, Republic of Korea, and USA would also be participating.
  • The exercise is scheduled from 27 Feb 23 to 17 Mar 23.
  • The aim of the exercise is to participate in diverse fighter engagements and learn from the best practices of various Air Forces.

 


Unying Festival

 

What's the NEWS

  • Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal attended the colourful Siang Unying Festival - which is an important festival of the Adi community at Boleng ,Arunachal Pradesh.
  • The festival of Unying is celebrated to herald the season of cultivation, beginning of the Adi community's new year, arrival of spring seasons as well as a great way to strengthen the bond among the community.

 

 

Competence of Laboratories and their Management Systems training programme

 

What's the NEWS

  • Thirty three participants from 17 countries, mainly from African, Caribbean and Asian regions, attended the 13th International Training Programme on 'Competence of Laboratories and their Management Systems' organized by the National Institute of Training for Standardization (NITS), the training wing of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

  • NITS is considered as the premier Institute imparting training on various facets of Standardization and Conformity assessment.
  • The institute has been organising international training programmes on standardization and quality assurance for the developing countries of Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America every year since 1968 under the ITEC programme of the Ministry of External affairs, Government of India.
  • Training programmes on Management Systems and Laboratory Quality Management Systems are also being conducted by BIS through NITS since 2004 and 2011 respectively.

 

Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme

 

  • ITEC for short, is the leading capacity building platform of the Ministry Of External Affairs, Government of India.
  • Instituted in 1964, ITEC is one of the oldest institutionalized arrangements for international capacity building having trained more than 200,000 officials from 160+ countries in both the civilian and in the defence sector.
  • Since 2014, India has offered close to 100,000 world-class capacity building trainings and scholarships at premier institutions in India, along with a chance to experience the culture and hospitality of India.
  • The ITEC programme is administered by the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India under which all expenses including international airfare, boarding, lodging, tuition fees, etc. are borne by the Indian authorities.

 

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)

 

  • It is the National Standards Body of India under Department of Consumer affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India.
  • It is established by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 which came into effect on 12 October 2017.
  • The Minister in charge of the Ministry or Department having administrative control of the BIS is the ex-officio President of the BIS.
  • BIS has 500 plus scientific officers working as Certification Officers, Member secretaries of technical committees and lab OIC's.
