Israel inks USD 50 mn deal with India to supply complementary Naval MRSAM systems

  • State-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has inked a follow-up deal worth USD 50 million to supply complementary Naval MRSAM (medium range surface-to-air missile) systems to the Indian Navy and the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders.
  • The IAI will provide complementary systems for the air defence system (ADS).
  • The deal involves follow up order for a range of maintenance and other services for various sub-systems of IAI's advanced MRSAM air defence system (ADS)

  • IAI will supply complementary Naval MRSAM systems to Indian Navy and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders.
  • The deal is a follow-up agreement between IAI and India, as per which former will provide complementary Naval MRSAM (Medium Range Surface-To-Air Missile) systems to Indian Navy.
  • The deal is a major breakthrough as it reflects strong relationship between IAI and Indian Navy. The contract advances IAI from system development and delivery to looking after operational needs of India.

Health Ministry to launch a Jan Jagrukta Abhiyaan to accelerate vector control measures

What's the NEWS

  • Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is all set to launch a special campaign in Delhi to sensitize and mobilise the community on measures for prevention and control of Vector Borne Diseases (VBDs) like Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya.

  • This three-day campaign is aimed at making the community a partner for checking vector/mosquito breeding across Delhi.
  • It is going to be a ‘Peoples Movement' through active involvement of people's representatives, officers from Government of India, Government of NCT Delhi
  • With collective effort and active people's participation, it is easy to ensure that before the monsoon we make our neighbourhoods and various premises free of mosquitoes.
  • This is probably the first time that three governments-national, state and local bodies- will converge in their efforts to mobilise the community for a public health activity
  • Each ward team includes field workers of Municipal Corporation, officers of Central Government and Delhi Government.
  • The concerned Malaria circle incharge will coordinate and teams will visit schools, residential areas, hospitals, Resident Welfare Association (RWA), market associations etc.

UGC Guide To Student Induction Programme Released

  • In a bid to develop an everlasting bond between teacher and students, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has come up with a new guide.
  • Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank' released UGC Guide to Student Induction Programme - "Deeksharambh" in New Delhi.
  • To promote Deeksharambh - Student Induction Programme (SIP) in Higher Education Institutions and its stakeholders, UGC will shortly conduct awareness and training programmes for teachers in different regions in the country.

  • Deeksharambh , a guide to Student Induction Programme is to help new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment, inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them build bonds with other students and faculty members, and expose them to a sense of larger purpose and self-exploration
  • The programme aims at engaging new students as soon as they take admissions in an institution.
  • During the induction programme, the incumbents will be taught and made aware about the institutional policies, processes, practices, culture and values, and their mentor groups formed.
  • Student Induction Programme (SIP) engages with new students as soon as they come into the institution i.e. even before regular classes start.
  • At start of induction programme, the incumbents learn about institutional policies, processes, practices, culture and values, and their mentor groups are formed.
  • Mentoring is one key component of SIP as it helps to develop an everlasting bonding of teacher and student.
  • SIP is intended to empower aspirant learners to face Competitive world with confidence, open new horizons of life leading to character building based on Universal Human Values like Truth, Peace, Love, Righteous conduct.
