The National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NIT Warangal or NITW) is a public engineering institution located in Warangal, India. It is recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The foundation stone for this institute was laid by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on 1959, the first in the chain of 31 NITs (formerly known as RECs) in the country. The institute was renamed as the National Institute of Technology, Warangal in 2002. It is ranked 26 in the NIRF ranking 2019 of Indian engineering universities.
The Institute presently has thirteen academic departments and a few advanced research centers in various disciplines of Engineering, Sciences and Management, with around 100 laboratories organized in a unique pattern of functioning, The Institute offers under eight Graduate programs (B.Tech,) in Engineering, 32 Post Graduate programs (M.Tech., M.Sc., MCA and MBA) in all disciplines and Ph.D programmes in all engineering and science and Humanities departments. The Institute is famous for its Research and Development, Industrial consultancy, Continuing education and Training programs for Teachers as well as professionals working in Industry.
Admission into B.Tech. programs are based on the All India Rank obtained in JEE (Main). Admission is through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Candidates graduated with any degree (with mathematics or allied subjects at 10+2 and degree level) are eligible for admission into Master of Computer Applications(M.C.A.) and the admissions are based on the rank obtained in NIMCET, a common entrance examination conducted for admission into MCA program offered at 11 NITs.
Admission to Master of Business Administration (M.B.A)is open to Engineering graduates with a valid score in GMAT/CAT/MAT followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
