JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria

Admission to B.E. / B.Tech. Courses in IITs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board will be based on All India Rank, subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured a minimum marks in the JEE Main examination.

  • Candidates should be in the top 2,50,000 (including reserved categories) in Paper 1 of JEE Main 2021.
  • However, the total number of candidates can be slightly greater than 2,50,000 in the presence of tied ranks/scores.
  • The percentages of various categories of candidates to be shortlisted are: 10% for GEN-EWS, 27% seats for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 40.5% is OPEN for all.
  • Within each of these four categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates.

Number of attempts

A candidate can give maximum 2 consecutive attempts for JEE Advanced.

Age limit

The Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1996. Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST and PwD candidates, i.e. these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1991.
