What is the Syllabus for JIPMAT 2025?

JIPMAT, which stands for Joint Integrated Program in Management Admission Test, is one of the three IPM exams conducted in the country. 

As the conducting body, the NTA (National Testing Agency) releases the official syllabus of JIPMAT 2025. Under the syllabus, the official website states the skills tested in the JIPMAT exam and we have categorized them section-wise in the table below. 

While the table above provides a broad viewpoint of what needs to be done to prepare for JIPMAT, it does not provide a comprehensive and tangible list of topics that need to be worked upon. 

For that, we have created a list of section-wise topics that can be addressed in preparation for JIPMAT.

JIPMAT Exam Pattern 2025

The JIPMAT exam consists of 100 questions which need to be answered within 120 minutes. These 100 questions are segregated into 3 sections as indicated in the table below.

The JIPMAT marking scheme has each question with 4 marks, with a negative marking of 1 mark for every incorrect answer. Due to the negative markings in the JIPMAT exam pattern, candidates or test-takers have to factor in their attempts as per their knowledge levels and can not afford to rely on flukes for the exam.

JIPMAT Syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude

The QA sections in JIPMAT mirror the structure found in the IPMAT exams but with a few subtle differences in focus. Here's a closer look at the topic-wise segregation and how to tailor your study approach:

JIPMAT Quantitative Aptitude Preparation Tips

The conceptual clarity of mathematical concepts taught up until Class 12 makes the basis of the JIPMAT Quantitative Aptitude syllabus. So one must not miss it. 

• Gain the conceptual understanding of the topics tested in the examination and practice in a graded manner i.e. basic, medium, and advanced question 
• Attempt topic tests to strengthen the concepts studied
• Compared to IPMAT Indore & IPMAT Rohtak; the quantitative aptitude section of the JIPMAT exam is slightly easier. 
• If you are or have prepared for IPMAT exams, then there is absolutely nothing you need to build your concepts for this section.
• However, the time limit for each of the IPM exams is different, so the time allocation for the QA section in JIPMAT will be different. 
• Practicing IPMAT mock tests specific to JIPMAT will become key in preparing for the exam as a whole and this section.

JIPMAT Syllabus for Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning

The section consists of two interlinked sub-parts known as logical reasoning and data interpretation. The primary skills tested are based on a candidate’s ability to make reasonable inferences and judgments based on the data and information provided in the question.

JIPMAT Data Interpretation Preparation Tips

Data interpretation is based on the numeric interpretation of data provided in bar charts, caselets, sets, or more. 

• The DI part of the section sometimes overlaps with the QA section and so does its preparation.
• Fast and smart calculations with an aptitude and fair practice for estimation are key ingredients to score well in the section.
• Acquaint yourself with more and more types of data charts and practice under a timer to feel comfortable in the section.

JIPMAT Logical Reasoning Preparation Tips

Logical reasoning is based on the primary understanding of the argument and its different components like premise and conclusions.

• The LR part of the section finds coherence with the reading comprehension section and their preparation is similar too. 
• The skills tested are based on the evaluation of a piece of writing critically to answer objective questions. 
• To acquaint oneself with more and more such problem sets, candidates are required to practice different types of such questions to gradually build on the logic.

JIPMAT Syllabus for Reading Comprehension & Verbal Ability

Just like the DILR section, this could be divided into two separated yet connected parts, that is, Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability.

The Reading Comprehension (RC) section evaluates your ability to comprehend, interpret, and analyze written passages.

• Most RC passages have a clear structure: introduction, body, and conclusion. Identifying this structure helps you grasp the theme of the passage faster and answer related questions accurately.
• Since RC can be a mix of short and long passages, reading speed is crucial. Practice reading regularly and aim to increase both speed and comprehension. 
• Read diverse sources like newspapers, magazines, and novels to come across a wide variety of topics including fiction, non-fiction, and academic articles, which can vary in complexity and writing style and words.
