The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), funded by Indian central government, is a premier medical college of India. JIPMER was first established on 1 January 1823 and it is the oldest institute to teach European medicine in Asia. JIPMER is a residential medical Institution which is spread in an area of 195 acres in the capital of union territory of Pondicherry. JIPMER offers various undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses. JIPMER is also a fully functional hospital that provides medical treatments to patients from all over the world. It has about 200 faculty members 3,000 staff and 360 resident physicians. JIPMER started operating from one more newly opened campus at Karaikal from November 2015. JIPMER has always projected excellence in what it does and has been constantly ranked among the top colleges of the country by various prime websites. Every year it admits more than 150 undergraduate students and 200 postgraduate students.
Candidates seeking admission in JIPMER must appear for JIPMER MBBS examination held by the university every year. Apart from AIIMS and NEET, JIPMER is the only UG medical entrance examination conducted in India. One has to qualify this exam in order to acquire a seat in Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research.
JIPMER MBBS 2017 is scheduled to be conducted on June 4, 2017 in an online mode. There will be a total of 200 multiple choice questions from sections of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Logic & Quantitative reasoning and English Comprehension. JIPMER will be conducting the entrance for a total of 200 seats, for both the campuses combined, in its MBBS program.
The question paper will consist of 200 MCQ type questions where only English will be the medium of language. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes and will be conducted in two shifts- forenoon and afternoon sessions. Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct answer while there won't be any deduction for incorrect answers and unmarked responses.
