Staff Selection Commission (Combined Graduate Level) Tier-I Examination 2017- Analysis: (August 19, Slot III)

SSC CGL Tier-I Exam 2017 started on August 05, 2017. Today is the 11th day of SSC CGL 2017 Exam. The exam will be conducted till August 24, 2017. The exam is scheduled to be conducted in three time slots. It is a Computer Based Test (CBT) containing 100 objective type questions to be answered in 60 minutes.

There are four sections, namely, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension consisting of 25 questions each. All sections, except the English Comprehension section are available bilingual i.e. in both Hindi and English medium. Every correct answer will fetch 2 marks and 0.50 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.

General Intelligence and Reasoning:

The level of difficulty of this section was easy. The questions in this section were similar to last year and the options could easily be eliminated to reach the correct answer.

General Awareness Section of SSC CGL Tier-I 2017

This section was moderate to difficult. Overall, the paper was on the same pattern as last year. The paper was dominated by science and economics questions.

Quantitative Aptitude

The section comprised questions from a variety of topics. Unlike last year, this section was dominated by Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry and DI. Two questions from coordinate geometry and one question from AP was asked.

English Comprehension

A majority of the questions in this section can be categorised under Vocabulary and Grammar. There were some changes in this year’s paper. There was no reading comprehension passage this year. This year’s question paper contained Direct and Indirect Speech, Para Jumble and Active/Passive Voice questions. Overall, the level of difficulty of this year’s paper was easy.
