Detailed Analysis of SSC CGL Tier-II Exam 2017
The overall difficulty level of paper-I of SSC CGL Tier-II 2017 washigher than that of the previous year paper. Today's paper offered a blend of questions from Arithmetic and Advanced Mathematics. Questions from Arithmetic were basically based on Ratio, Proportion and Partnerships, Mixture/Alligation, Profit, Loss & Discount, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Averages, Time, Speed & Distance, Time & Work and Percentages. They were very logical and new in presentation due to which they were time consuming as compared to previous year's questions. This year the questions from Algebra were based on new pattern, logically simple but calculative and time consuming. About 50 questions were from Advanced Mathematics (Geometry, Mensuration and Trigonometry) and their level was a way better than that of past four to five year's papers.Three questions were from Quadratic Equations and its roots. Few questions were taken exactly as from NCERT Class 10 book. Last but not the least, the questions from Trigonometry were new and difficult.
A smart approach to the paper could have resulted in good attempt of nearly 70-75 questions. The overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate to difficult.

The level of this year's English paper was not difficult than that of last year. The overall structure and pattern of the paper was same but it offered a couple of surprises to students due to which we put today's paper on a higher note. For example: Most of the questions based on "One word substitution and Idioms" were New and did not belong to 'the family of previous years' questions. However, the most surprising element among all was that none of the questions were in group except those of RC and Cloze Test; they were scattered throughout the paper due to which it was quite difficult to maintain the required momentum. Rests of the topics were along the same line to that of last year's paper. There were four sets of Cloze Tests and three RCs.
A smart approach to the paper could have resulted in a good attempt of nearly 175-180 questions. The overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate.
