How to Send New GMAT Scores to Business Schools?

The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a standardised test that business schools around the world widely use as part of the MBA application process. It measures data insights, quantitative and verbal skills.

If you have taken the GMAT multiple times, business schools generally look at and evaluate your highest GMAT score. Therefore, it is important to know how to send GMAT scores to the business schools you are applying to. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to send new or additional GMAT scores to business schools.

GMAT Score Reporting

After you complete the GMAT exam at the test centre, you can send your scores to up to 5 select business schools for free. These score reports are sent immediately after your test. However, if you want to send your scores to additional schools or retake the GMAT to improve your scores, you need to request new score reports. This can be done by logging into your GMAT account online and ordering additional score reports for a fee.

  • It is important to note that GMAT scores are valid for up to 5 years.
  • Business schools will consider your highest overall score if you have taken the test multiple times, provided the scores are valid.
  • The process may vary by school, so it is important to check the score reporting requirements of each institution you are applying to.

Step-by-Step Guide to Sending New Scores

Follow these steps to send updated GMAT scores to business schools:

1.  Log In to Your GMAT Account

Visit the official GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) website and log into your account.  If you have taken the GMAT multiple times, all your previous scores and test attempts will be visible here. Under the “Scores” tab, you will be able to see your highest GMAT score. This is the score that you should send to the MBA programs you plan to apply to.

2. Select Schools

Search for and select the B-schools you want to receive your new GMAT scores.

  • Once logged in to your GMAT account, go to the “Score Reporting” tab.
  • Here, you will see options to add, delete or modify schools where you want your GMAT scores to be sent.
  • Click on “Add Score Recipients,” and you will be able to search for and select business schools where you want to receive your updated GMAT score report.

3. Send New Score Reports

For each school, send a new score report reflecting your latest/highest GMAT score.

  • You must send the updated GMAT score manually. Even if you have previously sent scores to a school, they will not get the new score automatically.
  • Click on “Send Scores” next to each school to which you want to send new scores.

4. Pay Fee

Pay the score reporting fee, if applicable, for additional score reports. The fee for sending additional GMAT score reports is approximately $35 (INR 2874.14) per report.

5. Confirm Receipt

Once you have sent the updated scores via your GMAT account, confirm with the MBA admission office of each school that they have received your latest GMAT score.

You can email the admission office to double-check that your current highest score is visible in their records. This will ensure there are no discrepancies and business schools have your best GMAT score while evaluating your MBA application.

6. Send Official Score Reports

In addition to sending scores directly via your GMAT account, some business schools also require you to submit official GMAT score reports from the test provider as part of the MBA application.

You can request these reports online from the official GMAT website. The first 5 requested score reports are free when you request them within 7 days of taking the GMAT.

7. Meet Application Deadline

Keep in mind application deadlines for each business school, and send your updated GMAT scores well in advance.

  • Make sure the schools receive your new score at least a few weeks before the application deadline to avoid any last-minute hassles.
  • Sending scores too close to the deadline can risk them not being added to your application in time for evaluation.
