Globalization & its impact on Democracy
Globalisation is a complex and controversial process. It changed the world in many ways and has brought several counties together. And the concept of democracy means "Rule of the people". Democracy is the cornerstone of human dignity and good society. And globalisation is the key to spread the democracy. Public should shape it's own destiny with the tool called GLobalisation and society that is not striving after democracy tends to be less worthy and a dangerous place.
Democracy is accelerated through globalisation by most important tools of communication between states and the people. Trade, foreign, investment, finance, migration, environment and culture are the tools which help in promoting democracy by creating more integration. The influentical effects of globalisation are indirect but they are connected to politics and economics. Globalisation helps in promoting the democratic norms by development of both concept of human rights and trades between the states. One of the most impacts of globalisation is on the political reform of states and it is one of the difficult impact as well. It has an evident role in improving the power of increasing the pressure for democratic reform. Democratic globalisation supports the extension of political democratization to economic and financial globalisation. They promote democracy that makes leaders more accountable to citizenry through the removal of restrict on such transaction.
As every coin has head and tales even globalisation is boon and bane to the democracy and society. The negative side is the impact on income distribution which leads to growing social tensions and a negative impact on economic development.Globalisation has indeed reduced degrees of freedom of nation states in economic sphere which is so essential for countries that are still not developed countries. There are two main reasons one is unfair rules of the game in world economy and consequences of integration into international financial markets.
The relationship between globalisation and democracy is neither linear or unidirectional but relation between market economy and political democracy in natural context.
