UPSC CAPF Exam is conducted every year to recruit candidates in various armed forces across the country. The candidates who are selected through this exam, join the forces as Assistant Commandant (AC). UPSC CAPF 2022 will be released on the official website of UPSC in April 2022. The CAPF Exam Pattern includes a written test consisting of two papers of a total of 450 marks. CAPF Exam Pattern then proceeds with the Physical Endurance and Medical Test of the candidates who successfully qualify for the written test.

The CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) exam 2021 exam was conducted on August 08, 2021, and the results for the same was declared on 18th October 2021 on the official website of UPSC. The armed forces that recruit the candidates through this exam are:

  • Border Security Force (BSF)
  • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
  • Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
  • Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)

UPSC CAPF 2022 Eligibility Criteria

UPSC describes the eligibility criteria for the CAPF exam in the official notification. The expected eligibility conditions for UPSC CAPF 2022 are explained below:

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

The candidates who are subjects to Nepal and Bhutan are also allowed to apply in the exam.

No other candidate can apply for the UPSC CAPF exam.

Age Limit

The lower age limit for the CAPF exam is 20 years and the upper age limit is less than 25 years. The age of the candidate is calculated from August 1 of the exam year. For the candidates appearing in the UPSC CAPF exam 2021, the candidates must have been born not earlier than August 2, 1996 and not later than August 1, 2001.

Educational Qualification for CAPF 2021

As given in the official CAPF notification, "the candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree from any recognised university". The candidates who are in the final year of their degree course can also apply for the exam but they have to produce the final year mark sheet of the qualifying exam with the detailed application form.

Possession of NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificates: Candidates in the possession of NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate will be given preference at the time of Interview.  It should be noted that these qualifications will be given consideration only at the time of the Interview/Personality Test.

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern

The UPSC CAPF exam is a three-stage exam having only one written exam. As per the UPSC CAPF exam pattern, the CAPF exam is conducted in three phases. These include the following

  • Written Examination

  • Physical Standards / Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Test

  • Interview/Personality Test

 

UPSC CAPF Selection Process

After filling the application form for UPSC CAPF, you need to download the admit card for the exam which is released 2 weeks before the exam. The pattern and selection process for all three phases are discussed below:

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern Phase II - Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests

The Physical Efficiency and Medical Standard test are qualifying in nature. The candidates are required to meet the physical and medical standard prescribed in the CAPF notification. After passing this first phase or the written exam, the candidates need to undergo the Physical Efficiency and Medical Standard Test.

It is important to note that pregnant women candidates at the time of PET are disqualified and their applications are rejected.

UPSC CAPF Phase III: Interview/Personality Test - 150 marks

The candidates declared passed in the second stage of the CAPF exam are called for the interview/personality test. The interview/ personality test is conducted on the UPSC premises in New Delhi. After the interview/personality test, the final result is declared.

Restriction on appearing in UPSC CAPF

Any candidate who has been selected as the Assistant Commandant in any of the forces are restricted to apply again in the exam.

Q. How many times the UPSC CAPF exam is conducted in a year?

A. UPSC conducts the CAPF exam once every year.
