How to Prepare for IPMAT 2025 in 6 Months

How Should I Start My Preparation for IPMAT 2025?

Since the exam is scheduled for May 12, 2025, you have around 6 months to prepare for IPMAT 2025. But there is a major factor to focus on i.e. Board exam. To make the most of your preparation time, here’s a to-do list:

Understand the IPMAT Exam Structure & Syllabus

Before diving into preparation, familiarize yourself with the exam pattern and syllabus for IPMAT (IIM Indore), IPMAT (IIM Rohtak), or JIPMAT, whichever you are targeting. This will help you focus on the right areas/key topics during your preparation.

Solve IPMAT Previous Year's Papers

Start practicing IPMAT past year papers to understand question patterns and difficulty levels.

Analyze solutions and identify recurring question types.

Have a Structured Plan for IPMAT

  • Focus on strengthening the basics of the topics that have high weightage in the exam.
  • Solve topic tests after the completion of basics to gauge your understanding level for that topic.
  • Eventually, move to sectional tests when the majority of important topics are covered.
  • Attempt 1 mock per two weeks or as per your familiarity with the major topics you can increase the frequency of writing mocks.
  • Analyze mistakes and work on them.

During Board Examinations

Your priority should definitely be given to the boards, but try to be in touch with what you have learned by having small revision sessions for the entrance exam.

Post Board Examinations

Post board revise topics you found challenging in the previous months, increase question-solving speed through timed practice sets, increase the frequency of writing mocks to refine exam strategy, review past mistakes, and focus on maximizing strong areas while minimizing errors and practice mixed-topic question sets.

Tips to Crack IPMAT

  • Be consistent: Small, regular efforts yield better results than cramming later.
  • Balance boards and IPMAT prep: Boards should be your priority from January to March, but stay connected to IPMAT topics.
  • Stay calm and focused: Build your strategy step by step, and don’t panic if you fall behind.

Good Luck!
