Shri G Subba Rao is a retired IAS officer of the 1965 batch and has a long experience extending over four decades in governance and public administration. He has worked in diverse areas of development and regulatory administration at the Centre and in Gujarat, both at levels of policymaking and implementation. He was Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat, from June 2001 to April 2003 and later Chairman, Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission from May 2003 to January 2008. He was Chairman of, the Gujarat State Police Complaint Authority, from June 2013 to July 2013. Shri Rao holds an MA in Economics from Andhra University, an MA in Rural Development from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom, and a postgraduate diploma in Public Administration from the Indian Institute of Public Administration ( IIPA), New Delhi. He has a keen interest in Western philosophy.
