Detailed Exam Analysis - (24th May 2023)
Section I: English
SHIFT - 1
The English paper for CUET (UG) 2023, Day 4 (shift 1), followed the trend from the previous days and there was nothing significantly different. What could be understood from the student's experience, most of them rated the paper to be easy.
There were 15 questions based on reading comprehension (3 passages - 5 questions each). Two passages were from science (One on satellite launch and the other one was related to fossil fuel). One passage was an extract from a poem on bird description. Students found the passage to be easy to comprehend and the questions were direct too.
Other major topics in English were Identifying (Verbs, adjectives, and adverbs) in a sentence - there were 10-12 questions, Para jumbles (3-4 questions), and Synonyms & Antonyms (Antagonism, Match the following) - 2-3 questions, Active-passive 3-4 questions, Fill in the blanks (3-4 questions). A few questions on Sentence Correction, Indirect speech, were also asked.
In English, more questions were from the grammar portion than vocabulary. Overall, the experience of the paper was easy.
SHIFT - 3
The English paper for CUET (UG) 2023 on Day 4 was scheduled in shift 3 as well, and following the trend of the previous shifts in the day, the paper was rated as easy by the students.
There were 15 questions based on reading comprehension (3 passages - 5 questions each). The passages were Autobiography of Horse and Living a Simple Life, Abandonment of Materialistic Things. Students found the passage to be easy to comprehend and the questions were direct too.
Other major topics in English were
- Synonym: Dwindle antonym, crucial - 3-4 questions
- Incorrect/Correct statement: 3-4 questions
- Active-passive: 3-4 questions
- Parajumbles: 2-3 questions
There were also questions from - Fill in the blanks, Idioms, and Phrases (Match the following), Indirect speech, Verb, adjectives, and adverb were asked in a sentence, One Word Substitution, Foreign words (Alterego, from the beginning of Greek word), etc.
Section I: Sanskrit
SHIFT - 2
The Sanskrit paper for CUET (UG) 2023, on Day 4 (shift 2) was on the easier-to-moderate lines. What can be concluded from the student’s experience is that the questions were pretty direct and easy to moderate in difficulty level. Important topics were -
- Reading comprehension: 3 passages - 15 questions (A few questions were tricky)
- Word Meaning: 6-7 questions
- Phrases and meaning: 5-6 questions
- Translation: 3-4 questions
Section II: Domain Subject
Humanities: SHIFT - 1
Political Science
The student's experience with the Political Science paper on Day 4 (shift 1) was mostly easy. Questions were mostly based on topics such as -
- Recent Developments in Indian Politics: 5-6
- Alternative centers of Power: Cartoon based question(socialism), European union, 5-6 questions
- Crisis of the Democratic order: 3-4 questions
- The End of Bipolarity: 3-4 questions
- Environment and Natural Resources: Energy conservation act, 3-4 questions
There were 2-3 questions each from topics such as US Hegemony in World Politics (Barack Obama operation), Politics of Planned Development, Challenges of Nation-Building (Chronological Matching), Era of One-Party Dominance (Socialist party founder), Contemporary South Asia (Timeline), etc.
Humanities: SHIFT - 2
History
Students rated the paper to be easy on difficulty level. However, one special observation from the students was that many of the questions were from the last few chapters. From the initial chapters, Harappan Civilization had the most questions. A few important topics from where questions came were -
- The Harappan Civilisation: Bricks, Beads, and Bones 6-7 questions
- Mahatma Gandhi and the Nationalist Movement: Civil Disobedience and Beyond, dates related question - 5-6 questions
- Framing the Constitution: The Beginning of a New Era 3-4 questions
- Understanding Partition Politics, Memories, Experiences: 3-4 questions
- Colonial Cities Urbanisation, Planning and Architecture: 3-4 questions
- Bhakti-Sufi Traditions: Changes in Religious Beliefs and Devotional Texts - 3-4 questions
- Kinship, Caste, and Class: Early Societies - 2-3 questions
Other important topics were - Kings, Farmers, Towns, the Early States, and Economies; Thinkers, Beliefs, and Building Cultural Developments; Through the Eyes of Travellers' Perceptions of Society; Kings, and Chronicles: The Mughal Courts, etc.
Fine Arts
The common opinion of the students is that the paper was easy and its structure and important topics were pretty similar to that of the Boards. The important topics from where the questions came are -
- Names of painters, Years related to paintings
- Paintings associated with which painter, and place
- Similar questions were related to Sculptures
- Questions related to the commercial act
Science: SHIFT - 3
Physics
According to the experience of the students, the physics paper had a moderate rating. This is the same as was the experience of the students on earlier days. Questions from various topics in physics were as mentioned below:
- Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism: 3-4 questions
- Electrostatics: 2-3 questions
- Current & Current Electricity: 5-6 questions
- Semiconductor: 2-3 questions
- Electromagnetic waves: Formulae based, other ones were theoretical - 2-3 questions
Other important topics from which questions came were - Optics, Semiconductors, Atoms and Nuclei, Alternating currents, etc.
Chemistry
Similar to the previous day, the chemistry paper on day 4 - shift 3 has been rated moderate by the test takers. Reportedly the questions were more or less directly from the NCERT book. Questions from various topics in chemistry were as mentioned below:
- D and F Block Elements: 4-5 questions
- Alcohols, Phenols, and Ethers: Nomenclature - 3-4 questions
- Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids: Aldehyde 7 amino - 3-4 questions
- Organic Compounds containing nitrogen: 3-4 questions
- Haloalkanes & Haloarenes: Important reactions and match the following - 2-3 questions
Other important topics from which questions came were - Solid State, Solutions, Polymers, Chemical Kinetics, electrochemistry, Biomolecules, etc.
Mathematics
Students seemed to be content with the overall experience of the math paper. It was mostly rated as being easy and the extra 15 mins were really useful. Questions from various topics in math were as mentioned below:
Section A
- Matrices: 3-4 questions
- Integration: 3-4 questions
- Probability Distributions: 2-3 questions
- Linear Programming: 2-3 questions
- Differential Equations: 3-4 questions
- Determinants: 2-3 questions
Section B1
- Relations and Functions: 5-6 questions
- Three-dimensional geometry: 3-4 questions
- Probability: 3-4 questions
- Matrices: 2-3 questions
- Vectors: 3-4 questions
- Application of Integrals: 2-3 questions
Computer Science
Regarding Computer Science, the student’s had the opinion that the paper was easy. They were happy to see easy and direct questions from the NCERT book. The questions from various topics were -
- Networking: 10-12 questions
- SQL: Table questions (10-12 questions)
- Bubble sorting: 4-5 questions
- Assertion reasoning: 2-3 questions
Code Completion: 2-3 questions
Section III: General Test
SHIFT - 3
The students rated the General Test section as easy to moderate on Day 4 (shift 3). Questions were based on broad topics such as -
General Awareness: 12-15 questions
- Science: Vitamin deficiency, Unit of current, compounds (4-5 questions)
- Geography: Boston of India (2-3 questions)
- History: Gandhi Salt Movement (2-3 questions)
- Important Days: Match the following
- Books and Authors: Booker award
- Polity: Constitution
Numerical Ability: 25-27 questions
- Area & Volume: 3-4 questions
- Ratio and Proportion: 3-4 questions
- Percentage: 2-3 questions
- Mixtures and Alligations: 2-3 questions
- CI and SI: 2-3 questions
- Probability: Dice-related question (2-3 questions)
- Time, Speed, and Distance: 2-3 questions
Logical Reasoning: 18-20 questions
- Series: 4-5 questions
- Puzzles: Dice formation (3-4 questions)
- Visual Reasoning: How many triangles, and mirror images (3-4 questions
- Other topics include: Coding, Direction, Clocks, Blood Relations, Calendars, etc.
The GT paper was very similar to Career Launcher Mocks.
The overall Day 4 exam experience of the students has been more or less easy to moderate only. Students are advised to continue their preparation and stay calm and focused before the exam!
