CUET 2023 Exam Analysis - (26th May 2023)
Section I: English
SHIFT - 1
The English paper for CUET (UG) 2023, Day 6 (shift 1), was easy. The questions were very much similar to the Career Launcher Mocks.
15 questions were there from reading comprehension (3 extracts and 5 questions each). 2 were passages (on Premchand) and the other one was a poem on racial discrimination. The passages were easy to comprehend and the questions were direct.
Other important topics included:
- Synonym & Antonym: 5-6 questions
- Verbs, adjectives, and adverbs were asked in a sentence: Identify adverb and adjective in a sentence (3-4 questions)
- Parajumbles: 3-4 questions
- Idioms and Phrases: She jumped the boat as soon as she got the chance, Phrases were more (3-4 questions)
- Active-passive: 3-4 questions
- Letter-based: Fill in the blanks, superscript, sender's address, receiver's address (2-3 questions)
Some other crucial topics from which questions came were - Word Meaning, Sentence Correction, Indirect speech (Conversion of sentence to indirect speech), Fill in the blanks, etc.
Section II: Domain Subject
Commerce: SHIFT - 1
Accountancy
Accountancy exam on Day 6 - shift 1 was much on the expected lines. According to the students, the questions were based on the NCERT test book only. The paper was rated as easy on the difficulty level. Questions from various topics were as follows:
- Accounting for Partnership: 5-6 questions
- Accounting for Share and Debenture Capital: Case Study, Oversubscription, number of shares, issue consideration other than cash (5 questions)
- Reconstitution of Partnership: Case study, Balance sheet, Revaluation (5 questions)
- Computerized Accounting system: MS Excel short form (3-4 questions)
- Accounting-Not for Profit: Liquidity ratio (2-3 questions)
- Dissolution of Partnership: 1-2 questions
- Statement of changes in financial position: Vertical Analysis (1-2 questions)
The major classification of question categories/types were - Numericals (12-15 questions), Match the following (7-8 questions), Case study (2 questions), etc.
SHIFT - 2
Applied Mathematics
Student’s didn’t face much difficulty with the Applied Mathematics paper on Day 6 (shift 2). Students were happy to see direct and straightforward questions from the NCERT books. Student's mostly rated the paper as easy to moderate only. The questions were broadly from the following topics -
Section A
- Differential Equations: Order and Degree (4-5 questions)
- Integration: 2-3 questions
- Probability Distributions: Mean probability distribution (2-3 questions)
- Linear Programming, Calculus, Determinants, & Matrices: 1-2 questions each
Section B2
- Maxima and Minima: Direct questions (4-5 questions)
- Linear Programming: Maximum value point, Optimum value point (3-4 questions)
- Financial Mathematics: Depreciation, EMI, Effective rate, Bond- related questions (2-3 questions)
- Population and Sample: Not a statistic, formula (2-3 questions)
- Matrices: 2-3 questions)
- Partnerships: Distribution of Profit and investment (2-3 questions)
- Other important topics: Modulo Arithmetic (Multiplicative modulo), Allegation and Mixture (Forming of mixture), Boats and Streams, Pipes and Cisterns (Filling of the tank), Races and Games (ML Agarwal), Marginal Cost and Marginal Revenue (Cost is given, break-even point), Variance (Match the following formulas), Index Numbers (Price Index type question), etc.
Humanities: SHIFT - 2
Legal Studies
Legal Studies exam on Day 6 - shift 2, according to the students, was easy to moderate in difficulty level. The questions were based on the NCERT test book only. Questions from various topics were as follows:
- Judiciary: Husband-wife dispute, Law exams type, Match the following for cases in chronological order (5-6 questions)
- Human Rights in India: Fundamental duties, unlawful, Case Study (9-10 questions)
- Arbitration, Tribunal Adjudication, and Alternative Dispute Resolution: 1996 section of arbitration (5-6 questions)
- Legal Profession In India: attorney general, India bar council act, exams of laws, supreme court advocate (6-7 questions)
Some other crucial topics from which questions came were - Topics of Law, International Context(Full Forms), Legal Maxims, etc.
Sociology
Sociology exam on Day 6 - shift 2 was the easiest among all the Humanities subjects held. According to the students, the questions were easy and straightforward. The paper was rated as easy on the difficulty level. Questions from various topics were as follows:
- Social Movements: 10-15 questions
- Arenas of Social Change: Chipko movement, Tribal community (3-4 questions)
- Structure of Indian Society: Westernisations (3-4 questions)
- Social Change and Polity: Asked about socialism (2-3 questions)
- Social Institutions & Continuity and Change: Constitution related (2-3 questions)
Some other crucial topics from which questions came were - Social Inequality and Exclusion, the Process of Social Change in India (Match the following, sequences of change), Social Change and the Economy, New Arenas of Social Change, etc.
Science: SHIFT - 2
Mathematics (Core)
Mathematics (Core) exam on Day 6 - shift 2 was rated as easy to moderate by most of the test takers in difficulty level. According to the students, the questions were straightforward and from the NCERT book. The questions were very similar to the Career Launcher Mocks. Questions from various topics were as follows:
Section A
- Differential Equations: Order and Degree (4-5 questions)
- Integration: 2-3 questions
- Probability Distributions: Mean probability distribution (2-3 questions)
- Matrices & Determinants: 3-4 questions
- Linear Programming & Calculus: 3-4 questions
Section B1
- Three-dimensional geometry: Planes were 3-4 (5-6)
- Linear Programming: 4-5 questions
- Determinants: 3 questions
- Application of Integrals: 1 Easy and 1 tricky (2-3 questions)
- Continuity and Differentiability: 2-3 questions
- Differential Equations: Tricky - General solution(2-3 questions)
- Vectors: 2 questions
- Probability: 2-3 questions
SHIFT - 3
Chemistry
Chemistry paper on Day 6 - shift 3 was rated as easy to moderate by most of the test takers in difficulty level. According to them, the questions were more or less directly from the NCERT book. Questions from various topics were as follows:
- Aldehydes, Ketones, and Carboxylic Acids: Case Study - Test related (5 questions)
- D and F Block Elements: 4-5 questions
- Surface Chemistry: Case Study - Chemisorption (5 questions)
- Solutions: Roult law (3-4 questions)
- Electrochemistry: Numerical (2-3 questions)
Questions also came from other significant topics, like Chemical Kinetics (half-life), P Block Elements, Solid State, etc.
Biology
The paper didn’t surprise the student’s much and was much like other science stream subjects in difficulty level. Most of the test takers rated the Biology paper to be comparatively easy. The questions were direct and simple.
Some important topics from where questions came majorly are -
- Ecology: 2 Case Study, Hotspot, Biodiversity conversation, Case studies - Interaction, carbon cycling (12-13 questions)
- Biotechnology: Tools of genetic engineering, Pregnancy prevention method (6-7 questions)
- Reproduction: Placental hormone, Hybridisation (6-7 questions)
- Genetics and Evolution: RNA, Biofertiliser (5-6 questions)
A few questions were directly on -
- Typhoid cause, Sugar + NB, Gel Electrophorosis, Embryo development
- Pentosoc Sugar
- Cryo Preservation
- Paleontology evident
- Decomposition sequence
- Hardy Weinberg principle
- Selectable marker
- Chromosomel disease
Overall the student’s Day 6 (shifts 1, 2, & 3) exam experience has been more or less easy to moderate only. As of now, student’s are yet to come across any day or shift where they had any tough or similar experience.
Still, students are advised to continue their preparation as you never know how the next day or shift is going to be. Remain calm and stay focused!
