CUET 2023 Exam Analysis - (28th May 2023)
Section II: Domain Subject
Humanities: SHIFT - 1
Political Science
The Political Science exam was scheduled on Day 8 - shift 1. According to various students, the questions and the paper overall were easy in difficulty level. The questions were based on the NCERT test book only and were very similar to the Career Launcher Mocks. Questions from various topics were as follows:
- India’s External Relations: India Pakistan China foreign relation case study, United Council seat (5-6 questions)
- Challenges of Nation-Building: Princely state - Case study (5-6 questions)
- Recent Developments in Indian Politics: 4-5 questions
- Crisis of the Democratic order: high court judge election invalid, national front (3-4 questions)
- Cold War Era: 2-3 questions
- The End of Bipolarity: Chronology, NATO UN Dates and orders (2-3 questions)
- Contemporary South Asia: Event dates and chronology, Nepal monarchy abolition (2-3 questions)
There were some questions on US Hegemony in World Politics (Dates of operation, chronological wars), Alternative centers of Power, International Organizations, Security in the Contemporary World, Environment and Natural Resources, Globalization (World Social forum), Era of One-Party Dominance (Leaders match the following corresponding parties), Politics of Planned Development, Challenges to the Congress System (Congress system term is coined by whom), Rise of Popular Movements, etc.
Business Studies
From various inputs received from the students who appeared in the test, the Business Studies paper has been rated as easy to moderate by most of them. Questions from various topics in Business Studies were as mentioned below:
- Process-oriented questions were asked - Typically these are questions where processes of planning, organizing, etc are asked
- 5 Ps of Marketing
- What will be the KPAs in certain cases
- Full forms were asked
- 4-5 Match the following
- 2 Case studies - one was about planning
Commerce: SHIFT - 3
Accountancy
Accountancy was one of three Commerce stream subjects that were scheduled for day 8 - shift 3. Students who appeared in the test, rated the paper to be easy in difficulty level. According to inputs received, questions were easy and from the NCERT book only. Questions from various topics were as follows -
- Statement of changes in financial position: 7-8 questions
- Accounting-Not for Profit: Find out purchases (5-7 questions)
- Analysis of financial statements: Operating activity define, financing activity (5-7 questions)
- Accounting for Partnership: Case Study (5 questions)
- Computerized Accounting system: 4-5 questions
- Reconstitution of Partnership: 3-4 questions
Around 20-25 questions were Numericals. 7-8 questions were to match the following, and there were 2 case studies.
Business Studies
Students had a similar experience with the Business Studies paper, as with the Accountancy. Most of the test takers rated the paper to be easy in difficulty level. Questions in Business Studies from different topics were as follows -
- Marketing: 5 Ps of marketing (6-7 questions)
- Business Finance: 5-6 questions
- Financial Markets: Case Study (5 questions)
- Staffing: Case Study, features of staffing (5 questions)
- Organizing: Steps of organizing (4-5 questions)
- Controlling: Management by exception (4 questions)
- Consumer Protection: Act Identification, sequence order (3-4 questions)
- Planning: Steps of planning (3-4 questions)
- Nature and Significance of Management: Match the following (3-4 questions
Other important topics included - Principles of Management, Business Environment (Environment Identification), Directing, Entrepreneurship Development, etc.
Economics
Among all three Commerce stream subjects scheduled in shift 3 of day 8, Economics was rated as higher in difficulty level. Students who appeared in the test rated it as to be easy to moderate. Questions were mostly NCERT based and similar to the Career Launcher Mocks. Questions from different topics were as follows -
- Consumer Behavior and Demand: 7-8 questions
- Introductory Microeconomics: Case Study, Indifference curve (5 questions)
- National Income: 4-5 questions
- Determination of Income And Employment: 4-5 questions
- Money and Banking: Mostly from banking(3-4 questions)
- Government Budget and the Economy: Fiscal deficit (2-3 questions)
- Balance Of Payments: Current account, Capital account (2-3 questions)
- Indian Economic Development: Case Study
- Development Experience / Economic Reforms: Year of grade divide, comparative development
- Current Challenges Facing the Indian Economy
Section III: General Test
SHIFT - 2
According to the various inputs received from students, the GT paper on Day 8 (shift 2) was on the easy to moderate difficulty level. Questions were based on various topics such as General Awareness, Numerical Ability, Logic & Reasoning, etc.
To give more brief and specific details regarding the types of questions asked in GT, it was an easy, but slightly tricky question. The detailed topic-wise question distributions were as follows -

Overall the student’s Day 8 (shifts 1, 2, & 3) exam experience has been more or less easy to moderate only. Students are advised to continue their preparation as you never know how the next day or shift is going to be.
