CUET 2023 Exam Analysis - (29th May 2023)
Section I: Language
English
The student's experience of the English paper for CUET (UG) 2023, Day 9, was nothing different from the previous exam days. The test takers from the day rated the paper to be easy only. The questions were very much similar to the Career Launcher Mocks.
15 questions were there from reading comprehension (3 passages). One passage was on “companions going for a hunt”. There were 5 questions each from all three passages. The passages were easy to comprehend and the questions were direct.
Other important topics included:
- Parajumbles: 5-6 questions
- Synonym & Antonym: 5-6 questions
- Idioms and Phrases: 4-5 questions
- Fill in the blanks: 3-4 questions
- Sentence Correction: Finding error(3-4 questions)
- Active-passive, Letter based, Exclamatory sentence conversion, Word Meaning: 2-3 questions each from all these topics
- Some other crucial topics from which questions came were - Foreign words, Adjective based, Indirect speech, Spelling Errors, etc
Section II: Domain Subject
Commerce
Accountancy
Students who appeared in the test on day 9 for Accountancy, rated the paper to be easy to moderate in difficulty level. According to inputs received, questions were easy and from the NCERT book only, but the options given were close & tricky. Questions from various topics were as follows -
- Accounting for Share and Debenture Capital: Case Study - Basic ( 4 feature and reissue of share), 3 theory(debenture) - (8 questions)
- Cash flow-related questions: 7-8 questions
- Reconstitution of Partnership: 6-7 questions
- Accounting for Partnership: Theory - IOD, IOC, Goodwill questions (5-6 questions)
- Dissolution of Partnership: Case Study(Journal entry - 2, Theory - 2) (5 questions)
- Computerized Accounting system: NCERT direct questions (4 questions)
- Analysis of financial statements: Loose tool comes under the category of, Match the following, companies act 2013 schedule 3 (3 questions)
- Accounting-Not for Profit: Theory - Income and expenditure (2 questions)
Around 7-8 questions were Numericals. 3-4 questions were from order and sequence, and there were 2 case studies.
Business Studies
Students had almost the same experience with the Business Studies paper, as it was in the previous day. Most of the students rated the paper to be easy in difficulty level. Questions in Business Studies from different topics were as follows -
- Nature and Significance of Management: Case Study- Effective & Ineffective (5 questions)
- Principles of Management: Extension to equity, remuneration of employee (5 questions)
- Organizing: Case study - Processes of Organising (5 questions)
- Consumer Protection: Jurisdiction, National level, Identify which of the following does not come under the consumer protection act (3 questions)
- Marketing: Concept of marketing, selling concept (3 questions)?
- Financial Markets: Stock exchange comes under which market, Instrument - definition matching (3 questions)
- Planning: limitations & advantages(3 questions)
Other important topics included - Business Environment, staffing, Directing, Controlling, Business Finance, Entrepreneurship Development, etc.
Economics
Likewise the previous day, among the three Commerce stream subjects scheduled for day 9, Economics was rated as higher in difficulty level. Students who appeared in the test rated it as to be easy to moderate. Questions were mostly NCERT based and similar to the Career Launcher Mocks. Questions from different topics were as follows -
- Indian Economic Development: Green Revolution, Ozone depletion, Introduction of Indian Railway, China industrial policy 1978 question, Pakistan change in policy name, Casual labor - (20 questions from Indian Economic Development book)
- National Income: Case Study - GDP, the flow of income (7-8 questions)
- Money and Banking: Case Study RBI, Revaluation and Devaluation of Rupee, Stock and Flow feature (5-6 questions)
- Determination of Income And Employment: 2 Numericals - Autonomous and Equilibrium (5-6 questions)
- Balance Of Payments: Primary deficit numerical (3-4 questions_)
- Government Budget and the Economy: 2-3 questions
- Consumer Behavior and Demand: Price increases from 5 to 7, and Elasticity demand is 0.5. What will be the effect of demand (2-3 questions)
- Introductory Microeconomics: Demand and supply (2-3 questions)
Overall the student’s Day 9 (shifts 1, 2, & 3) exam experience has been more or less easy to moderate only. Students are advised to continue their preparation as you never know how the next day or shift is going to be.
